Lately on Days of Our Lives, Andrew Donovan has been doing the classic soap-two-step: show up for the big life moment, disappear into the horizon, then pop back in just long enough to remind everyone he exists. Andrew married Paul Narita in June 2025, leaving Salem soon after, and then swinging back through in November for the Tom Horton Free Clinic gala.  Off-screen, Colton Little’s also had a very public spotlight lately thanks to his real-life partner Adrian Anchondo, aka General Hospital’s Marco, confirming their relationship on social media. Little recently opened up about Andrew’s spotty visits to Salem.

Key Takeaways

  • Andrew’s been written in bursts, not as a sustained presence.
  • Colton Little wants consistency, not a gimmick storyline.
  • Andrew’s sexuality is treated as normal, not plot fuel.
  • Little was candid about unstable bookings and fast-paced soap work.
  • He’d welcome a contract and a longer-term DAYS return.

The Role DAYS Already Has But Won’t Commit To

Little appeared on YouTube’s Daytime Today, and he spoke like someone who likes the job, respects the machine, but still wants more than crumbs. He’s not pretending that Andrew needs a giant, melodramatic “issue” to justify screen time either. He’s talking about presence, purpose, and allowing the character to do the work and stay in the storylines longer, so he matters.

He also mentioned something that’s been true for a while, even if soaps don’t always say it out loud. Andrew being openly gay isn’t treated like a special episode. It’s just part of who he is, and the character still gets to be the ISA agent, the competent one, the legacy kid trying to live up to Shane (Charles Shaughnessy) and Kimberly (Patsy Pease). Little explained, “I mean, it’s such a high honor.”

And that’s why a bigger return feels overdue. Andrew isn’t written as a stereotype or a side-note. He’s written like a person with a job, a family name, and a life off-screen we never get to see. He enthusiastically explained further that, “Andrew’s story was one of acceptance and love by his parents…like, neither Kimberly nor Shane…turned away from him because of his sexuality.”

One-Take Chaos, Real-Life Reality, and Why He Still Wants In

Little didn’t romanticise the soap grind. He revealed that his first soap job was as a bartender on GH for two episodes. He stole Ava’s (Maura West) bag. On the second day, he thought the scene was going to cut and reset, and instead he walked straight into a fully dressed hallway and a camera waiting for him. “It was such a big lesson for me of like, ‘Oh, soaps…they go 100 miles an hour, and then you jump off the train, and that’s it,” he remarked.

He was also honest about the bigger picture. Work is sporadic, and finances can become tight. Episodes get offered and then taken back. He flat-out stated, “I would love to do a contract. I would love to be in a show consistently.” He further noted that, “contracts mean stability, and stability means you can breathe like a human for five minutes without doing spreadsheet maths at 2 a.m.”

What came through most, though, was that he still likes the work. He likes acting and the community. He doesn’t want to be the guy who shows up and tosses out a few lines only to disappear for months on end, with Andrew off-screen. He’s ready to be a fixture in the story. And that’s exactly what DAYS fans want to hear.
