For a young actor, Cary Christopher — who plays Thomas DiMera on Days of Our Lives — has a versatile range. With several upcoming projects, including the Spider-Noir TV series with Nicholas Cage, his resume is building fast. One of his undertakings was finally released, and Christopher excitedly shared news of its premiere.
He Plays an Owl
Christopher appears in the new film An Almost Christmas Story, the third in a series of holiday shorts produced by Mexican filmmaker Alfonso Cuarón. The short is also produced, written, and directed by David Lowery, who made 2021’s The Green Knight. It’s based on the true story of an owl that was found in the Rockefeller Center Christmas tree in 2020 in New York City and named Rocky after the center.
According to Deadline, the plot is about a young owl named Moon (Christopher) who “Unexpectedly finds himself stuck in a Christmas tree destined for Rockefeller Plaza. In his attempts to escape the bustling city, Moon befriends a lost young girl named Luna (Estella Madrigal). Together, they embark on a heartwarming adventure, discovering the magic of the holiday season and forming an unlikely bond as they journey back home to their parents.”

Truly Exciting Experience
Christopher posted some snaps and videos on his Instagram stories. The first was a shot of him in a theater, pointing to the silver screen as his name comes up in the movie’s opening credits. Above that he excitedly wrote, “Saw my animated film tonight!!!” The next shot was him standing in the theater’s aisle as the appropriate song, I’m So Excited by The Pointer Sisters played, really hitting home the enthusiasm for the film.
The next shot was of the cast list from the end credits. Christopher was supported by an amazing assortment of actors, including comedian Jim Gaffigan, the highly talented John C. Reilly (Step Brothers, 2008), Mamoudou Athie (Jurassic World Dominion, 2022), and Natasha Lyonne (American Pie, 1999). Christopher also included a few other shots of him at the theater, and the look of excitement on his face was deep and genuine.
An Almost Christmas Story will be available on Disney+ in the Fall.
