On the Monday, April 29 episode of Days of Our Lives, Kristen and Alex have way too much fun enacting their plan to have Rachel report back to Brady about their closed-door activities. Also, acting more like her mother daily, Rachel uses an illegal plan to suit her needs.
Brady (Eric Martsolf) had breakfast with Rachel (Finley Rose Slater) before her field trip to the aquarium, where he served as a chaperone. John (Drake Hogestyn) gave her a hug, then she walked away, and Brady unloaded on how difficult it is that Kristen (Stacy Haiduk) had full custody. However, little by little, he’d gotten more time with his daughter, so he thought she might be mellowing a bit. John disagreed, predicting it was just another scheme.
Meanwhile, Kristen had been dancing between the sheets with Alex (Robert Scott Wilson) and she’d prepared for Rachel to come into her bedroom needing her signature for a permission slip. She worried when Brady hadn’t shown up and called him. It turned out that Rachel had forged the slip and told Brady her mother had signed it — a total Kristen move.
Kristen’s plan here was despicable. Not only was she using her child to make Brady believe that her affair was real, but she also gave Alex one of her robes to wear so that they looked like they’d had a sleepover. Do little kids really need to know that sort of thing? The damage she’s causing Rachel’s psyche just continues to roll on. The girl has typically fed into whatever Kristen tells her. She has behaved like a spoiled little brat, especially when she made Chloe’s (Nadia Bjorlin) life extremely difficult when she was dating Brady.
Although they were going to continue to the aquarium despite Rachel’s act of forgery, Brady informed her that what she did was illegal. He told her that Kristen had gone to jail for doing bad things, and he didn’t want her to follow that path. It’s an uphill struggle for Brady because of the custody situation. Heck, he couldn’t even sign the permission slip if he wanted to because of Kristen’s legal control over Rachel.
The poor girl received mixed messages from her parents, but Brady explained things well to her. She knew he and Kristen weren’t right for each other, but he reassured her it wasn’t her fault and that they were incompatible. In the end, he reminded her that she was the most important thing in the world to him, and if he maintained consistency with his approach, he very well might be able to undo the damage Kristen inflicted.
Ava (Tamara Braun) happened upon Brady and Rachel having breakfast at the Pub, and she asked the girl what her favorite fish was. Rachel said she liked, “A great big Orca. Like in Free Willy,” a 1993 film where a young boy must save an Orca from being killed by the owners of the aquarium where it lives. Of course, Brady corrected her, explaining that an Orca is a mammal, so she chose goldfish instead.
