Days of our Lives is ending its nearly 57-year run on NBC in a little over a month. But the show’s not being canceled. Instead, DAYS will continue to air on the network’s streaming service, peacock. DAYS has already aired original content on peacock with Days of our Lives: Beyond Salem.

Days of our Lives Moves to the Peacock

Starting Monday, September 12, NBC says in a statement, “Peacock will become the exclusive home of the fan-favorite drama Days of our Lives. For the first time ever, all new episodes of the 58-time Emmy Award-winning drama will debut on Peacock daily with the show’s robust library already available to stream for Peacock Premium subscribers.

“The historic move to Peacock creates the ultimate destination for daytime fans to access the library, new episodes and Peacock Original Days of Our Lives: Beyond Salem in one place. “This programming shift benefits both Peacock and NBC and is reflective of our broader strategy to utilize our portfolio to maximize reach and strengthen engagement with viewers,” Mark Lazarus, chairman, NBCUniversal Television and Streaming said of the decision.

“With a large percentage of the Days of Our Lives audience already watching digitally,” Lazarus adds, “this move enables us to build the show’s loyal fanbase on streaming while simultaneously bolstering the network daytime offering with an urgent, live programming opportunity for partners and consumers.”

Ken Corday, DAYS’s executive producer, chatted with Soap Hub on the red carpet at the Daytime Emmys about broadcast programs shifting to streaming services. “It’s the future,” Corday said. “We’ll talk about it [more]…but linear is the future. Broadcast will survive, but for how long, one doesn’t know.”

It appears now that that time is upon us. NBC will fill DAYS’ timeslot with a one-hour news program, NBC News Daily, which will be anchored by Kate Snow, Aaron Gilchrist, Vicky Nguyen, and Morgan Radford.
