5 Easter Eggs From Body & Soul Every Days of our Lives Fan Needs To Know

As Body & Soul prepares to rock Salem, here are five Easter eggs about the fictional soap that Days of our Lives fans need to know.

Getting Soapy

Body & Soul has been a hit soap opera in Salem for years, and it’s biggest fan, without a doubt, is Abe (James Reynolds). After getting addicted to it during his recent bout with amnesia, once Abe learned of its cancellation, he did what every good soap fan would do: fight for it.

Abe enlisted the help of Kate (Lauren Koslow) to relaunch the show, and he’s hired half of Salem to help him do it. With Leo (Greg Rikaart) as head writer and Johnny (Carson Boatman) as the director, the show is finally getting off the ground thanks to its colorful cast: Hattie (Deidre Hall) as Charlemagne, Bonnie (Judi Evans) as Kassandra, and Alex (Robert Scott Wilson) and Chanel (Raven Bowens) as star-crossed lovers Arrow and Faith. But there’s more to this show and its characters than meets the eye.

Theo’s Doppelganger

When Abe was first watching B&S, he became fascinated with the way the character Randy resembled his son, Theo. The twist only viewers could catch was that Randy was played by Terrell Ranson, Jr., who played Theo from 2008-2015.

It’s All In The Name

Before the soap’s cancellation, Hall, Koslow, and Mary Beth Evans played the characters of Charlamagne, Lorna, and Kassandra, respectively. But if that wasn’t fun enough, their fictional actress names were callbacks to previous characters they each played. Charlamagne was played by Jessie Witherspoon, the name of Hall’s character on Our House; Kassandra was played by Katherine Bell, the character Evans played on General Hospital; and Lorna was played by Margo Lynley, the character Koslow played on The Bold and the Beautiful.

Nixon, Bell, And Stark?

During the rollercoaster ride that has been Leo writing for B&S, the writer has brainstormed out loud and often referred to himself as the next great soap writer. “Irna, Agnes, Bill, Betty, and Ted,” he once said, referring to Guiding Light creator Irna Phillips, All My Children and One Life To Live creator Agnes Nixon, The Young and the Restless and B&B creator William J. Bell, and, of course, DAYS creators Betty and Ted Corday.

Art Imitating Art

Several characters and storylines on B&S have been based on the (fictional) real-life experiences had by Salemites. Not only did an amnesiac Abe watch a storyline centered around amnesia, but Leo has gotten several story ideas from those around him. Not only did he write in a woman who returns to town with amnesia, referring to “Abigail” (AnnaLynne McCord), but he also wrote about a woman who gave birth in the woods and finds out the baby she thought was dead is actually alive, referencing his experience delivering Jude and Sloan’s (ex-Jessica Serfaty) paternity scheme.

Paging Dr. Drake Ramoray

While reading lines with Stephanie (Abigail Klein) Alex’s character Arrow mentioned getting a brain transplant. This is a callback to how Dr. Drake Ramoray, the fictional DAYS character that Joey (Matt LeBlanc) played on Friends, returned to the soap thanks to a brain transplant.
