Matthew Ashford Previews Real-Life Son’s Days of our Lives Debut

Christmas on the soaps can be a real family affair for the actors and crews because shows often invite family members to take part if they want to. It looks like Matthew Ashford was able to do just that for his son with a guest shot on Days of our Lives.

Matthew Ashford: Son Makes Debut

The actor who brings Jack Deveraux to life shared the exciting news with his followers on the social media giant, Twitter on Monday — except he thought he was sharing it after the fact. Instead, he was actually letting us know ahead of time!

“On today’s air show- Santa- (Stephen Nichols) visits the kids at the hospital- One of them is my little son Henry- making his screen debut!” he shared excitedly, jumping the gun a little bit. Astute viewers knew that Nichols as SteVanowasn’t in his upcoming Santa gear yet and let the actor know.

Correcting the Record

Ashford quickly updated his announcement with a follow-up Tweet saying, “Well- if by chance it isn’t on till tomorrow- at least I am on the air with my “ tv son” Casey Biggs and Missy [Reeves, Jennifer] and Kate Mansi [Abby]!❤️”

He must have been typing too quickly because once again, the popular actor had to make a correction. As fans know, his onscreen son JJ Deveraux is played by Casey Moss. It turns out that he does have a connection to the other Casey though.

“Sorry- Casey Biggs is a friend of mine fellow Interact Alumni- yes- Casey Moss!” he wrote. Another fan noted that his daughters took part in a previous Christmas episode on DAYS, while another shared that it was back in 2002.

The emotions have been intense for Jack lately in Salem as he learned that JJ has been fighting his addiction to opioids and almost killed Kristen due to his grief over losing girlfriend Haley. Good to see the actor experienced uplifting emotions during that time, watching his son make his debut. Days of our Lives (DOOL) airs weekdays on NBC. Check your local listings for airtimes.
