Archive Flashback: A Mega Soapy Milestone

Mary Beth Evans made sure to mark the day her partner in Days of Our Lives (DOOL) crime joined the show with touching words for Stephen Nichols.

That’s because June 13, 2018 marked 33 years since Stephen Nichols debuted as Steve “Patch” Johnson in Salem, and where would Sweetness be without her Steve?

“How it all changed when I met you @officialnichols. You have always challenged me to be my very best … we share the hustle and hard work. The love & the trust have always shined through. I love you! Happy 33 years!!” she tweeted, along with a video of the two of them.

Evans and Nichols have always shared a close bond with each other, unlike many of soapdom’s supercouples who couldn’t stand each other when the cameras stopped rolling. She even had him join her recently on her birthday blog to answer fans’ questions.

One thing she didn’t address in her social media post is the unconfirmed news that Nichols has left DAYS role. Things are looking dicey for the couple right now as she works behind his back to try to get his eyesight back. The last thing Steve wanted was to owe Stefan (Tyler Christopher) anything.

If he finds out that Kayla went behind his back, things might blow up for the couple. While nothing has been confirmed, if that happens, there will be over three decades’ worth of fans who will be devastated, but probably not as upset as Evans herself.
