Mary Beth Evans Celebrates DAYS Anniversary With A Look Back

Days of our Lives’ Mary Beth Evans has been enjoying all the celebrations honoring the 56th anniversary of the soap this month, and the longevity of the show made her consider why it’s lasted so long, plus a little bit retrospective herself.

The actress, who has played Kayla Brady Johnson on and off since 1986, took to Instagram to talk about her deep thoughts on the show.

Mary Beth Evans: Defining Success

“I saw a quote recently, that read there are no secrets to success – success is the result of preparation, hard work and learning from failure,” Evans wrote. “I think this is true in all things – work, love, and life.”

She went on to discuss how she’s thought a lot about this quote—and the idea of success—this week during the multiple celebrations going on for the anniversary.

“This show didn’t just luck into success… It’s through hard work from every single person involved with the show,” Evans shared. “The commitment and dedication through generations is really something to behold. The love, the laughter and yes, sometimes the tears we hold dear to our hearts.”

Patch And Kayla

Evans is grateful for her cast and crew, but none more than her long-time friend and on-screen hubby, Stephen Nichols (Steve Johnson), who she has paired with both on Days of our Lives and General Hospital for most of her 35 years in daytime.

“So many of those special moments are thanks to my partner through it all, [Nichols] there’s no one I’d rather work tirelessly with,” Evans wrote, adding a heart emoji. “I love you!”

She included a 38-second video of a montage of some of Patch and Kayla’s most memorable moments through the years, set to the music of Montell Jordan’s “This is How We Do it.” (Maybe she didn’t have a copy of “If Your Heart Comes Out Tonight” nearby?) Nonetheless, it’s a fun treat for DAYS fans to watch.

Evans ended her post thanking Days of our Lives viewers for their support of the entire DAYS family.

“We are all so grateful to each of you for your continued love and support,” she said. “Thank you!”
