Mama Drama: Does Diana Explain Leo’s Behavior on Days Of Our Lives?

Diana’s return to Days Of Our Lives has been confusing, to say the least. From 1987 to 1989, she was the blonde and angelic looking Genie Francis (now Laura on General Hospital). She dated John (Drake Hogysten) – who thought he was Roman at the time, and pretended to date Victor (John Aniston).

There was some drama with her own mother and the family fortune. Diana had a tendency to get kidnapped, and Roman-John had a tendency to keep rescuing her. They were engaged, but the specter of “dead” Marlena (Deidre Hall) always hung over the couple and eventually they split up.

So, ok, that’s a pretty convoluted background. But no worse than the background of any other child in Salem. Does Diana explain – and justify – Leo’s (Greg Rikaart) twisted actions? Almost 14,000 fans considered the possibility:

Be a Big Boy
Leo – or Matthew, as his mama calls him – he is a grown man, 81% of you remind us. He can’t keep claiming that a difficult childhood is the reason he’s torturing Sonny (Freddie Smith) and Will (Chandler Massey).

Leo, we now know, grew up rich. Diana cut him off, and he’d like to be rich again. Plus, Sonny is pretty hot. But, all the decisions Leo made were made by him, not his mother. It doesn’t excuse anything.

Coming Attractions
Anyone can change, especially in Salem, 11% of the audience is looking on the bright side. If Leo decides to reform, then a difficult childhood is one of our top favorite excuses.

Cry Me a River
For 6%, though, a childhood as Diana’s baby boy makes you see Leo in a whole new light. He’s sympathetic now. He’s a victim. And everybody loves a victim!
