Could Kate Mansi returning to her Emmy-winning role of Abigail – but apparently on a short-term basis – be a signal that the Days of Our Lives (DOOL) couple is headed out of Salem?
After all, it seems odd for her to return for only a short time rather than sign a long-term contract.
It would make perfect sense though if Billy Flynn is planning to leave DAYS just like Marci Miller, but not at the same time. Bringing Mansi back could fix a timing issue so the show could plan a fitting exit story for the popular couple.
The couple is definitely popular… no matter which actress is playing the role of Abby.
While it took a while for fans to warm up to Miller, her latest story of Abby’s alters seems to have won over most of the naysayers and thrilled those who already adored her.
Her abrupt exit after only two years in the role has angered many fans who are now invested in her version of the Salem heroine.
It’s a shame after seeming so happy to win the role that she wouldn’t have agreed to an extension to help Flynn exit — if that is indeed what’s happening here. (Remember, this is pure speculation.)
While many fans are thrilled to have their original Abby back, it’s a bit of a letdown that it’s only for a short time. But, in the end, it could prove to be the best possible scenario.
And wouldn’t it just be wonderful if Mansi just slips into the role one day with nary a mention that anything is just a tad different?
If Flynn is staying, there are two reasons Mansi may have been needed to return. Either she is there to end Abby’s story or perhaps the show already has yet another actress chosen to take over the role and she’s not available yet to start filming.
But that seems unlikely. While it would be sad to lose this popular couple, the thought of them getting their happy ending, away from Salem, may be a silver lining that will ease the pain for fans.
