The time jump hasn’t been kind to poor Eve Donovan on Days of our Lives, but while things are looking up for the character, it’s going to send her portrayer, Kassie DePaiva, off the canvas once again.
Kassie DePaiva Leaving
According to soaps.com, DePaiva will be leaving the show when Eve says goodbye to everyone in Salem on December 24.
The actress has certainly come and gone several times over the years since taking over the role of Eve back in 2014. Whether or not this is just another case of having to cycle away while others come and play is unknown. If history serves as any indicator, there is a good chance Eve may return to cause trouble once again.
The History of Eve
The role was created by Charlotte Ross back in 1987 as a foil for her father Shane’s (Charles Shaughnessy) relationship with Kimberly (Patsy Pease) but almost immediately proved to be a thorn in the side of Jennifer Horton (Melissa Reeves), continuing to annoy her until she left in 1991. DePaiva brought her back decades and continued in that vein.
DePaiva brought years of soap experience with her, having started as Chelsea Reardon on Guiding Light from 1986 to 1991. But it was when she took over the role of Blair on One Life to Live that she really took off.
Being Blair
She joined OLTL in 1992 and played the strong-willed Kramer woman for over a decade. When the show went off the air, she briefly brought the character over to General Hospital but the lawsuit with Prospect Place, which felt it owned the characters and not ABC, put the kibosh on that. Now that it’s been settled, could she end up in Port Charles?
Stranger things have happened. Considering her most successful pairing was with Roger Howarth, and he’s still there playing Franco, could the show want to challenge that supercouple once again? Or will she be brought back to Salem sooner rather than later? Soap Hub will let you know when we hear. Days of our Lives (DOOL) airs weekdays on NBC. Check your local listings for airtimes.
