James Reynolds Shines As Abe Schools Jack On Days of Our Lives

Jack and Abe faced this week on Days of Our Lives in the middle of Horton Square and what happened next certainly pleased fans as Jack finally got schooled about his current behavior.

It’s been kind of hard to watch this version of Jack (Matthew Ashford) slink around Salem looking to harm a young girl and betray his own son in the process.

Apparently, the fans aren’t the only ones frustrated. Salem’s own Mayor Carver (James Reynolds) finally put a voice to those frustrations and it was glorious!

Abe encountered Jack and Eve (Kassie DePaiva) and a pompous Jack stopped him and asked if he knew Haley (Thia Megia) was with Immigration being questioned. He then asked his stance on illegal immigration. Abe admitted he knew what was going on and Eve asked if he was fine with it.

Jack pressed further to say he knows Haley and Tripp’s marriage is fake and looked furious at the apparent audacity of the young woman to try to stay in this country under false pretenses.

Perhaps it was his words, or maybe the fact Jack seemed unrecognizable, but Abe told Jack he’d believe Tripp (Lucas Adams) and Haley were in love before he’d buy what Jack’s selling.

Jack got indignant but Abe didn’t stop there. He got angry that Jack said his name with familiarity but that there’s nothing familiar about this man. He went on to point out all the ways he was a completely different person — and not for the better.

Abe told Jack the person he used to be would champion someone like Haley Chen, write brilliant journalistic pieces in her defense, and would have stood up to any opportunistic politician who was doing what he’s doing to her. He wondered where that Jack went and said Jack may as well have stayed dead.

His words seemed to make Jack think. Will it cause Jack to see the light, change, and leave Eve? We doubt it — but it was cathartic to watch him knocked down a peg or two.

Kudos to the writers, James Reynolds, and Matthew Ashford — who had to say it all with just his eyes and facial expressions. This was good soap!
