Days of our Lives got an instant infusion of spunk, fire, and sass, when Jackée Harry stormed into town as Paulina Price. The unique character, perfectly portrayed by Harry and exquisitely scripted by the show’s writers, has upped the fun and drama in Salem.
Since Harry arrived on the scene as Lani’s (Sal Stowers) super-rich, super fiery Aunt Paulina, DAYS hasn’t been the same. Her character is a must-watch in every scene – from her melodramatic facial expressions to her hilarious dialogue. Who can forget the day she met her shirtless new son-in-law, Xander (Paul Telfer)?
Despite being angry and outraged and chastising him for marrying her daughter, she took time to admire the merchandise. After noting that he looked “like a Greek god,” she stared at his chest and quipped: “Is that an eight-pack?”
And Xander’s not the only man Paulina has been appreciating since she moved to town. Every time she sees Lani’s husband, Eli (Lamon Archey), she can’t resist commenting on his fine physique, too.
However, Paulina isn’t just comic relief. She’s also a major new power player in town, who’s not only filthy rich but also smart as a whip. That was never more evident than the day Xander tried to blackmail her for $10 million. After reacting with a huge burst of laughter, she firmly stood her ground and responded with a firm, no.
She eventually agreed to pay him $100,000 to make him go away and divorce her daughter; that is until she realized Chanel (Precious Way) was in on the scam. Then Paulina grabbed the check back and ripped it up, punctuating the point that no one plays her.
While Paulina’s abundant with sass and eccentricities, she’s also quite relatable to viewers, particularly as a mother who’s frustrated with her wayward daughter. She’s shown her vulnerable side on numerous occasions, lamenting what went wrong with the spoiled Chanel. She also has a warm loving side that’s been displayed in moments with Lani and her great-niece and nephew, Jules and Carter.
It all rounds Paulina out as a truly interesting and likable character. She’s also quickly forged a genuine, albeit offbeat friendship with Abe (James Reynolds), something that had been lacking since Tionne ‘T-Boz’ Watkins departed as Sheila. It’s brought Abe back to life and given Reynolds more and much-deserved screen time. Days of our Lives (DOOL) airs weekdays on NBC. Check your local listings for airtimes.
