The news that Stephanie Johnson is headed back to Days of our Lives reminded us that there is an entire lost generation of legacy characters missing from the Salem canvas – and that they’re sorely needed.

Days of our Lives: A Lost Generation

Here are just a few who should be brought back because they are the children of some of the show’s most popular supercouples, and would have fans invested in them and their adventures, ASAP.

The Lost Boys

Sonny Kiriakis (Zach Tinker) has three older brothers – whom fans, at one point, actually knew better than him. The oldest, Alexander, is the biological child of Justin Kiriakis (Wally Kurth) and Anjelica Deveraux (most recently played by Morgan Fairchild… but some of us prefer the original, Jane Elliot. Or Judith Chapman. Or Shelley Taylor Morgan. Anyone but Fairchild.)

Anjelica used the baby to keep Justin and his true love, Adrienne Johnson (Judi Evans) apart but, in the end, Adrienne ended up raising Alexander as one of her own. She and Justin also adopted Victor and Joseph. Sonny is their only biological child. Surely, there should be some interesting sibling rivalry to come from those dynamics?

Days of our Lives: Oh, Brother (and Cousins, Too)

Stephanie has a brother, Joe (both he and cousin Joseph were named after Adrienne and Steve’s mother). She also has a cousin, Theresa Donovan (Jen Lilley), who is the mother of Brady Black’s (Eric Martsolf) son, Tate. Theresa has an older brother, Andrew Donovan. And then there’s another cousin, JJ Deveraux.

The point is, there are a half-dozen characters in the prime 20s/30s age demographic who could return to Salem and cause all sorts of trouble, not just for themselves, but for their parents, too, which would put the vets fans fell in love with 35 years ago front and center – making the entire audience happy. So get it done!
