On Monday’s episode of Days of our Lives, Jake DiMera and Gabi Hernandez DiMera took their case to Victor Kiriakis to tell him why they should be the ones to take over as CEO of Titan. He heard them out — which is a lot more than one would expect him to do. All we could think of while watching it was, have these two lost their minds?!
To Victor (John Aniston), Gabi (Camila Banus) is little more than the mother of the little girl who his great-nephew, Sonny Kiriakis (Zach Tinker), happens to share custody of due to his being with her father, Will Horton (Chandler Massey). OK, maybe he’s heard of Gabi Chic, but not really. He can’t be bothered with such trivial matters.
He knows even less about Jake DiMera (Brandon Barash), who until recently was a mechanic. Oh right, he has spent a few months working with either Gabi or Kate Roberts (Lauren Koslow) guiding him. For these two to come to him and claim they should run his international company was borderline insulting, never mind a joke. The chutzpah these two characters displayed to think they should be running Titan was a lot for viewers to swallow as well.
Luckily, Victor didn’t let them get away with anything. He pointed out the obvious — that they schemed to take out his son, Philip Kiriakis (Jay Kenneth Johnson), with the spyware they had placed on the computers. He also pointed out that they aren’t relatives. That Jake’s family is his major competitor — all reasons why it’s insanity to think they should be trusted with the top position.
While the Days of our Lives episode ended before Victor had the chance to throw these two out on their behinds, as they so richly deserve, there is still a chance that they will make inroads with him. After all, his great hope — Brady Black (Eric Martsolf) is in the hospital having apparently fallen off the wagon. These two still may find a way to twist Victor’s arm. But should they?
No way. Victor is way too savvy to put these two in charge. Sure, Justin Kiriakis (Wally Kurth) is too busy lawyering to want the top spot but we can’t help but think if Victor asked, he’d do it until someone else could fill in. Ditto Sonny. Family is everything and they’d step up. There is no reason Gabi or Jake should be allowed anywhere near the top spot. Heck, lure Kate back first. Anything but those two. Will it still happen? We sure hope not.
