The General Hospital recap for October 14-18 features the ineptitude of the Port Charles prison system and proof that, despite her prowess as a businesswoman, Nina is not a very smart person.
After last week’s meticulous frame job, Sam (Kelly Monaco) had one single shot at gaining her freedom. Jason (Steve Burton) laid the groundwork by getting Andre (Anthony Montgomery) to positively identify Bryce Henderson (Brian Gross) — Sam’s accuser — as the man who attempted to stab him to death.
When confronted by Stone Cold, Bryce seemed to really contemplate flipping on his boss — Peter August — but he wanted a little more time to ruminate on his options. The Pentonville guards then escorted Bryce back to his cell and left him with his new bunkmate — serial killer Ryan Chamberlin (Jon Lindstrom).
It might seem strange to a normal, well-functioning adult that a prison would house serial killers in the same cell as a person remanded on lesser charges (like arranging an escape from the law) but in Port Charles, it’s apparently not strange at all.
And since Bryce was the only thing standing between Sam and her own incarceration at Pentonville he, of course, had to die. His crime? Making lewd and suggestive comments about Ava (Maura West).
You would think that this incident would be enough to make the prison rethink their housing policy but alas, the bureaucrats haven’t learned their lesson. So poor Sam was led to her cell and told that her new roommate will be returning shortly. She’s in a time out for stabbing her last roomie’s eyeball!
Never one to heed advice, Nina (Cynthia Watros) returned to Valentin (James Patrick Stuart) and agreed to hear his side of the story concerning Sasha’s (Sofia Mattsson) maternity deception.
After he spun one heck of a yarn that threw everyone and anyone under the bus except for himself and Liesl, Valentin emerged victorious. Not only did Nina buy his tale hook line and sinker but she pulled him in for a big ole celebratory kiss!
Poor Sasha however, wasn’t going to receive an olive branch from Nina anytime in the near future. That was made perfectly clear when Nina called up Jordan (Briana Nicole Henry) and had the PCPD issue a warrant for the girl’s arrest on a charge of fraud! Ever the martyr, Sasha refused to divulge Valentin’s role in the con.

The one positive to come out of this week is that crazy Nelle’s (Chloe Lanier) parole was flatly denied. For some reason, the board didn’t buy the sociopath’s apologizes or her weepy promise to devote her life to caring for hospice patients.
In a twist that everyone saw coming, Alexis’ (Nancy Lee Grahn) new trainer, Kendra (Michelle Argyris), revealed herself to be on a crusade to avenge Keefer’s death and she’s going to do it by poisoning Ms. Davis’ dietary supplement.
The moral of the story? If you’re a woman who has committed vehicular manslaughter in the past, be wary of strange young women who offer you foreign herbal treats that they claim will cure whatever ails you. General Hospital airs weekdays on ABC. Check your local listings for airtimes.
