Clyde Weston is one of Days of our Lives’ most terrible bad dads. He came onto the daytime TV scene a vicious mess and it only got worse from there. We thought we saw the last of him when he was locked away the last time, but he’s back again. To catch viewers up on his villain, here are five things you should know about EJ DiMera’s new cellmate.
Clyde’s (James Read) son makes no secret of how he grew up. Clyde was the WORST. Ben Weston (Robert Scott Wilson) has opened up time and time again about Clyde abusing him and his sister when they were kids. Heck, he was so awful Ben and Jordan Ridgeway (Chrishell Stause) — or rather, Tammy Sue and Ollie — went on the run and changed their names.
Not only was Clyde physically abusive towards his step-daughter, but Jordan lodged some rather horrifying accusations of sexual assault against him too. According to Jordan (who died on-screen), Clyde raped her when she was a teen. This came up through flashbacks when Clyde was blackmailing her.
Once Clyde wound up in Salem he had a rather short but hot affair with Kate Roberts (Lauren Koslow). But, this love-fest was anything but sunshine and roses. She thought this guy was one of those dark and dangerous but irresistible bad boys. But, he turned out to be nothing but a monster.
It wasn’t long before Clyde became Victor Kiriakis’s (John Aniston) enemy. The two were fast rivals and tried to one-up each other to get the last laugh. Eventually, this led to Clyde ordering a hit on an unsuspecting Sonny Kiriakis (then, Freddie Smith) to teach Victor a lesson. Luckily, that plan fell through.
Sonny wasn’t the only person Clyde tried to kill. He was heavily wrapped up in a drug ring, one led by EJ. The men fought hard over their territory ending with one of Clyde’s henchmen shooting and seemingly killing EJ. Unfortunately, for Clyde, EJ is still very much alive.
With a history like that, we’re sure the folks of Salem are going to be on high alert now that Clyde is sharing a cell with his shooting victim. Things could get messy between EJ and Clyde, or Clyde and anyone, really. We can only guess what kind of fresh hell he has up his sleeve next!
