During their first round on daytime Philip Kiriakis, Chloe Lane, and Brady Black were the soap’s most popular trio. Chloe’s back and forth between her two suitors hooked viewers and was the focus of a multitude of magazine covers. Now, finally, Days of our Lives is reviving the triangle, and it’s about time.
Days of our Lives – All Together, Now
All three characters have been on the canvas for nearly a year, but there’s been a big holdup moving forward with their story. Before the triangle could be reignited, the show’s writers had to extricate Brady (Eric Martsolf) from his inane relationship with Kristen (Stacy Haiduk). Now that that’s out of the way –- Kristen’s on the run after committing her latest insidious crimes – the timing is right to fire up a new “Phloe” versus “Broe” battle.
Setting the DAYS Stage
The stage was perfectly set, when Chloe (Nadia Bjorlin) ended up shot and hospitalized, thanks to Kristen and Jan’s (Heather Lindell) machinations. Within hours, Philip (Jay Kenneth Johnson), who helped rescue Chloe, and Brady were at her bedside; each pleading to look after her while she recovered. With that, the two-man race to reclaim her affections was off and running.
Days of our Lives History Helps
What makes the Days of our Lives triangle so engaging is that Philip and Brady know Chloe better than anyone. How sweet was it when they both showed up at her hospital room carrying the exact same bouquet of her favorite flowers?
The two men were there when Chloe was an awkward teenager, blossomed into a bombshell, and battled leukemia. They were there when she emerged into a confident woman and became a mother. They’ve also both had highs and lows with Chloe — from Last Blast Dance heartache and heroics to marriage and divorce. It’s the kind of history that adds to any storyline plotted for them.
The Great DOOL Divide
Having Chloe torn between Philip and Brady, again, makes perfect sense. Her recent feelings for Brady likely took a hit, after all she had to endure at the hands of his crazy ex, Kristen.
It’s given Philip time to swoop in and see if he can restart something with the old flame he’s still wildly attracted to and who owns a piece of his heart. Having Chloe living under the Kiriakis roof is definitely giving Philip ample time and opportunity.
It means Brady will have to up his game and work harder to regain the ground he lost during the Kristen debacle. His next move will be key and interesting to watch him maneuver, particularly with Philip hovering so closely over Chloe. It’s all part of the fun and drama revving up the triangle that once totally mesmerized viewers and certainly can again.
