FINALLY! Days of Our Lives Renewed For Another Year!

It was looking touch-and-go there as the daytime world waited for the news, but finally Days of Our Lives (DOOL) fans got the good news they’ve been waiting for!

NBC has announced a one-year pickup of their last remaining soap just in the nick of time. After all, the show shoots episodes six months in advance, which puts them around September — the same time the show would go off the air it was cancelled.

Production would have to stop soon if not immediately, possibly cheating the writers out of a chance at closure.

Luckily for the actors, writers, and fans alike, that is no longer an issue. The trials and tribulations of your favorite Salemites are free to move forward for at least another year, allowing the show to celebrate its 53rd anniversary.

Days of Our Lives was the brainchild of the grandmother of soaps herself, Irna Phillips, along with Allan Chase and Ted Corday — current executive producer, Ken Corday’s father. The show debuted on NBC on November 8, 1965.
