When Days of our Lives viewers first met Gwen, she was hanging out in the looney bin – only pretending to be crazy so she could hide from her boyfriend and his mobster enemies.
Pretending… sure. Later, we learned that she was Jake’s (Brandon Barash) ex and that she had a grudge against Abigail (Marci Miller). And her whole family. But she took it out mostly on Abigail.
Gwen (Emily O’Brien) drugged Abigail but Abigail blamed Gabi. And then Gwen convinced Chad (Billy Flynn) that Abigail and Jake were having an affair. So there was nothing else for Chad to do but sleep with Gwen to even everything out. Now Gwen has pronounced herself Jack’s long-lost daughter and vowed to ruin his family. After all this, can Gwen ever be redeemed? What almost 5,000 fans predict:
No, 89% of you assert. Jack might be forgiven for having raped Kayla (Mary Beth Evans) back in the day, and Abigail might be forgiven for killing Andre (Thaao Pehnglis) and framing Gabi (Camila Banus) for it. But Gwen telling lies is beyond the pale. What she did can never be excused or forgotten, which means she can never be redeemed. She shouldn’t even bother trying.
Only 11% of the audience sees it as a possibility. Not just Jack and Abigail, but criminals like Kristen (Stacy Haiduk), Bonnie (Judi Evans), and Victor (John Aniston) have been forgiven for much, much worse.
So if Gwen grovels enough and kisses up to the right people, she should be able to get right on the same train as everyone else. Of course, Gwen can be redeemed. And then she can turn around and judge other people for doing the exact same things she once did, too. Days of our Lives (DOOL) airs weekdays on NBC. Check your local listings for airtimes.
