DoubleDAYS No More? Are The Doppelgangers Done on Days of Our Lives?

Things have gotten crazy on Days of Our Lives (DOOL), since Bonnie and Hattie kidnapped and swapped places with Adrienne and Marlena.

The two women have been wreaking havoc on their lookalikes’ lives and causing all kinds of problems for their confused family and friends.

Lucas (Bryan Datillo) is drinking again, believing “Adrienne” (Judi Evans) has dumped him for Justin (Wally Kurth). Meanwhile, John (Drake Hogestyn) was stunned when “Marlena” suddenly announced they were over.

The jig is up for Hattie, now that Hope (Kristian Alfonso), Paul (Christopher Sean), and Roman (Josh Taylor) have figured out the truth, but Bonnie’s still running wild at the Kiriakis mansion.

Soap Hub asked Days of Our Lives fans if you think the soap should ban doubles storylines for good.

Yes, Please
The majority of fans, 72% of you, want the doppelganger madness to end – permanently.

You’ve watched your share of these stories over the years, and feel they’re getting old and tiresome. The plots are always silly and convoluted, and you’re tired of watching smart characters have the wool pulled over their eyes by dopey doubles like Hattie and Bonnie.

It Depends on the Doubles
Meanwhile, 17% of you aren’t quite ready for the soap to throw in the towel when it comes to these storylines. Frankly, it depends on the doubles… or more.

For example, in the case of Eileen Davidson’s entourage of characters -– namely, Kristen, Susan, Sister Mary Moira and more — you’re all for the whole gang returning any time at all.

No, They Can Be Interesting
The remaining 11% of you say that doubles can be interesting. It’s all contingent on the right story. You loved Hattie’s (Deidre Hall) original run on DAYS and thought her introduction to Salem was a hoot; particularly her scenes with Dr. Rolf (Will Utay). If the right circumstances are scripted, this plot device can really work.
