Life in Salem has been downright dismal over the past year on Days of Our Lives.

One heroine lost her mind, another went to jail, and another delved back into drugs. An array of the town’s citizens were held hostage by a trio of madmen, while Deimos (Vincent Irizarry) wreaked havoc on the entire Kiriakis family.

Is enough finally enough for Days of Our Lives fans? Soap Hub posed that very question, asking if it was time for brighter days in Salem.

Bring on the Joy
There was a resounding yes from 81% of fans, who want the soap to give the citizens of Salem some joyous storylines.

The past year was more than you could bear from Abigail’s (Marci Miller) mental breakdown and Hope’s (Kristian Alfonso) murder conviction to Theresa’s (Jen Lilley) return to drugs; not to mention Maggie’s (Suzanne Rogers) paralysis at Deimos’s hands and the Terrible Trio’s reign of terror. You’re hoping the holidays will bring some happiness to Salem, because it’s long overdue.

Stuck in the Middle

Honestly, 16% of you say you can go both ways on this question. An interesting soap is a mix of happy days and turmoil. Granted, it sometimes feels like the negative plots outweigh the positive ones, but in the end, it all seems to even out.

Bring on the Angst
Nah, these storylines with angst are much more intriguing, according to 3% of you. Abigail’s breakdown, for example, provided great twists and turns for Chad, including a newfound friendship with Gabi.

And Hope’s murder of Stefano yielded a year’s worth of drama as she and Rafe tried to cover it up, while Andre fought to expose them. Happy translates to boring on daytime. So, the more trouble the better, as far as you’re concerned.
