Now that everyone is pretty much staying safe at home during this coronavirus pandemic, some shows have figured out how to adapt more quickly than others — with late-night shows almost immediately switching to a shoot-at-home format. The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon has incorporated a running gag — The Longest Days of Our Lives spoofing soaps. Now some of our faves have gotten involved.
Soap Stars Drop In To The Longest Days of our Lives
This past Friday night was the third installment of Jimmy Fallon’s little Zoom drama filled with big-name comedic stars. In this installment, which you can see below, his character learns shocking news from Vanessa (Kristen Wiig) that everything “zooms” along faster when using the app. It also introduces his character Winston and his brother Fontaine (Will Ferrell) to their Zoom baby (Jake Gyllenhaal).
Soap opera rapid aging syndrome (SORAS) is nothing new to soap fans but considering we only learned of her affair with the two brothers and now a baby has already grown into… well… Jake Gyllenhaal, this puts soaps to shame. Of course, this is a spoof, so there’s that.
Needless to say, hilarity ensues but for the first time ever we see time some faces familiar to soap fans. They include Days of our Lives star Mary Beth Evans (Kayla), General Hospital star Maurice Benard (Sonny), and former All My Children diva Susan Lucci (ex-Erica) — as well as former Melrose Place fan favorite Heather Locklear.
Evans alerted fans about her appearance via her Instagram account saying, “Gasp! Tune into tonight’s @fallontonight as I get to play along virtually with @therealsusanlucci @mauricebenard @heatherlocklear #kristenwiig and #willferrell on The Longest Days of Our Lives. And thanks @jimmyfallon for keeping us laughing night after night! #stayhome #days”
Lucci showed her portion to her Instagram fans after the fact writing, “In case you missed Jimmy Fallon last night—a dose of “Erica Kane”😂😂😂💃🏽💃🏽💃🏽”
During these stressful times, it’s great to have a chance to laugh and these stars certainly delivered that and more while providing fresh content for viewers. Be sure to check it out in the video below.
