Days of our Lives icon Alison Sweeney has had a rich history with the Hallmark Channel, ever since starring in Second Chances, a 2013 film she did with Greg Vaughan, who ironically would become her on-screen twin brother years later.
Over the years, Sweeney has appeared in several installments of the Hallmark Movies & Mysteries film series Murder, She Baked, played podcast host Alex McPherson in five films as part of the Hallmark Movies & Mysteries film series Chronicle Mysteries, and has been a part of several Christmas movies, the latest of which, Open By Christmas, came out this holiday season.
And now, according to TVLine, Sweeney has signed on for a project that will keep her in the Hallmark Channel fold for a while.
The actress is starring in a trilogy of new Hallmark Channel movies alongside fellow Hallmark Channel staples Lacey Chabert and Autumn Reeser, with the first installment, Wedding Veil, announced for January 8, 2022. In the trilogy, the three actresses will play longtime college friends who during a yearly trip together, discover a mysterious, antique veil fabled to unite its bearer with her true love and changes each of their lives. Kevin McGarry, best known as Nathan on Hallmark’s When Calls the Heart, is also part of the cast, so expect one of those three actresses to find magic with him.
“While our channel is associated with romance, a core tenet of the Hallmark brand is celebrating love in its many facets, including family bonds and enduring friendships,” said Michelle Vicary, EVP Programming at Crown Media Family Networks, when announcing the film. “Our programming is reflecting that more and more. What better way to celebrate female friendships than to bring together three beloved actors from our network, Lacey Chabert, Alison Sweeney and Autumn Reeser.”
The trio of movies is based on a Lori Wilde book entitled, “There Goes the Bride.” DAYS fans don’t have to wait until 2022 to see Sweeney though, as the actress is already back as Sami Brady on the mothership show and for the upcoming Days of our Lives: A Very Salem Christmas.
