On the heels of the show’s 54th anniversary last week, Days of Our Lives has been making BIG headlines over the last day or so related to the show’s future. Now, one of the show’s scribes is speaking out to set the record straight about what’s really going on.
While neither nor Sony, the studio behind the NBC serial, are commenting officially on reports that the entire cast will stop working at the end of this month until the show is picked up, one of the show’s scribes has taken to social media to quell any concerns.
“THANKS for all of the messages,” Rick Draughon, a writer for DAYS on and off since 2002, posted on his Facebook page, “but DAYS has NOT been canceled. We’ve completed the season… and will be going on hiatus for a few months just like most of the prime time/streaming shows that you watch. We’ve taped shows that will air through the end of August 2020.
“Once NBC picks the show up (and I’m encouraged they will), we will resume writing in January or February… I promise no one is going to miss a single sand from Tom or Alice’s hourglass. So, in the meantime, sit back on your couch… and enjoy the insanity that is (and I mean that in a good way) Salem.”
Draughon has also been on the writing teams at Loving, Sunset Beach, and The Young and the Restless. He created the TV series Coastal Dreams in 2007, which ran for 24 episodes and starred Kam Heskin (ex-Caitlin, Sunset Beach; ex-Sheridan, Passions).
Soap Hub will keep DAYS fans updated on further developments related to the show’s future as they become available. Days of Our Lives airs weekdays on NBC. Check local listings for air times.
