Despite three interruptions, Lani and Eli’s long trek to exchanging “I Do’s” finally happened on Days of our Lives. It has been a bumpy road for this gorgeous couple to make it down the aisle.
While the couple’s day was certainly action-packed, it was also filled with sweet, sentimental moments. And it all led to a ceremony to remember. Check out our list of the top five moments from Lani (Sal Stowers) and Eli’s (Lamon Archey) wedding.
Having Lani’s bestie, Kristen (Stacy Haiduk), show up on her doorstep was a nice touch. The two women forged a strong friendship during their time at the nunnery, and DAYS was wise not to let that go. Remember, it was Kristen who convinced Lani to return to Salem and fight for Eli.
Lani seemed delighted to have Kristen’s help preparing for her wedding and thrilled to share her pregnancy news with her BFF. Plus, Kristen got to play a role in the “something old, something new” ritual, gifting her friend with a new necklace and letting her borrow a silver rattle that belonged to Rachel.
Two moms, a dad, and a grandmother — they all played a special part in Lani and Eli’s day. Grandma Julie’s (Susan Seaforth Hayes) jitters before the ceremony were a hoot, particularly ordering father of the bride Abe (James Reynolds) around and criticizing his every move.
Abe’s one-on-one moment with Lani before taking her to the ceremony highlighted their special bond. And Vanessa Williams (Valerie) and Marilyn McCoo’s (Tamara) returns as Eli and Lani’s loving mothers topped off the perfect family dynamic.
It wouldn’t be a Salem wedding without a wedding crasher or two. Gabi (Camila Banus) strutting in like a peacock and announcing, “I’m sorry to interrupt — not,” was spot on, as she delivered the news that she’d been acquitted of poisoning Abigail. The gasps and Julie’s outrage were perfect, until Eli, thankfully, persuaded her to leave, and the ceremony continued.
But wait, there was more. Namely, Vivian (Louise Sorel) storming in with a gun bent on taking out the bride, since Lani had shot her beloved son, Stefan, dead. The tension and fear factor was at an all-time high, with Abe stepping in front of his pregnant daughter to protect her.
Meanwhile, Eli sent an SOS message to Rafe (Galen Gering), who arrived to save the day and cart Vivian off to the cop shop. Another crisis had been averted, and it was back to the ceremony. That is, once Lani composed herself and proclaimed herself ready to continue.
With the double whammy behind them, the wedding was primed for a loving romantic turn and that’s exactly how things proceeded. Marlena (Deidre Hall) resumed the ceremony, and Eli and Lani recited their vows, both making sure to mention David Abraham, the son they’d lost at birth. “I love you now and forever, and I can’t wait to be your husband,” pledged Eli.
Meanwhile, Lani thanked her teary-eyed groom for making her feel “so special and safe. I promise that I will be the best wife to you and mother to our child.” After exchanging rings, the couple were pronounced husband and wife and shared a few sweet kisses, amid the cheers and smiles of their families. They also performed the “jump the broom” ritual, making everything absolutely perfect. Days of our Lives (DOOL) airs weekdays on NBC. Check your local listings for airtimes.
