Days of Our Lives Stars Speak Out on Redemption for Ava and Charlie

Days of Our Lives Charlie has shown a much darker side since he made his Salem debut. Ava’s bad seed son is the one who assaulted Allie overseas and last week, Charlie knocked his mom out cold with a vase!

Can Days of Our Lives Keep These Characters Around?

Recently, Lucas Adams (Tripp), Mary Beth Evans (Kayla), and Stephen Nichols (Patch) sat down with Soap Hub and a group of other reporters to talk about a variety of topics including what’s next for Tripp and redemption possibilities for both Charlie (Mike Manning) and Ava (Tamara Braun).

“Right now,” Adams says, “Tripp is just trying to get his life back in order. He’s really going to focus on finishing medical school [and see] if he can get everything back on track.”

Evans is all for her stepson getting his medical degree. “We need another doctor at the hospital,” she says.

As far as redeeming Charlie, Evans hopes that’s in the cards. “I hope so,” she says. “He’s really good. He’s the sweetest, most hardworking, conscientious guy I know — like you [are] Lucas!”

“I’ve known Mike for 7 or 8 years,” Adams shares. “Being able to work with him finally is cool because we’ve been friends for so long. It worked out really well with us getting to be brothers, too.”

While Tripp isn’t going to be charged criminally for Allie’s (Lindsay Arnold) attack, there’s a potential civil matter pending.

Ava could possibly be redeemed if she were to spend a few sessions in Marlena’s (Deidre Hall) chair, suggests Nichols. After all, she did a great job helping Ben (Robert Scott Wilson) work his way back into society. But Evans thinks that Ava’s role as the antagonist is perfect as is. “Let her be a villain and let her be on the show,” the actress suggests.

“I’m trying to get her to stay on the show,” Nichols enthuses. “I want her there!” Adds Adams: “I love working with Tamara. She’s really focused on the mother/son aspect [of our relationship]. Our scenes are so much fun!” Days of Our Lives airs weekdays on NBC. Check local listings for air times.
