Days of our Lives Star Vanessa Williams Pens Tribute To Her Brother

While many people were posting pictures of their brothers and sisters for National Siblings Day over the weekend, Days of our Lives star Vanessa Williams, who plays Valerie, took the opportunity to reveal a tragic loss that her family experienced recently.

Vanessa Williams Pays Tribute

On her Instagram account, the actress shared the somber news. “On March 23 my little brother left this earth!” she wrote. “Heartbroken and shook it’s been hard to process and harder to make a fitting post! So much, too much I just don’t have the right words… I love him, he lives in me, in his children and every life the LIGHT of his life has touched! Rest In Peace Darling Matthew Elliot Williams!”

She also posted a collection of family photos and a short video of a tribute she made for her brother on the beach. All of us at Soap Hub send Williams and her family our condolences during this very difficult time.

While Valerie hasn’t been seen much in Salem lately, now that Paulina (Jackée Harry) is cozying up to her ex, Abe Carver, perhaps as those two grow closer it will present a great time to have her come back to town. Besides, Eli sure could use his mom with everything happening in his life now. She has to keep an eye on those twins, after all!

One challenge to that is that Williams is keeping herself rather busy. She just booked a role on the second season of Showtime’s L Word: Generation Q, playing Pippa Pascal, described as “an incendiary artist who’s been out of the public eye for almost 20 years — until Bette becomes determined to track her down.”

Jennifer Beals stars as Bette on the show, a new iteration of The L Word series that aired for five seasons from 2004 to 2009.

Williams also recently filmed a follow-up to the classic horror film, Candyman, written by Jordan Peele, reprising her memorable role as Anne-Marie McCoy from the original 1992 film of the same name. And this holiday season, she can be seen in BET’s A Rich Christmas, which was shot at the end of 2020. Days of our Lives (DOOL) airs weekdays on NBC. Check your local listings for airtimes.
