Days Of Our Lives Star Peter Reckell Celebrates Incredible Milestone

Peter Reckell, forever in our hearts for his portrayal of Bo Brady on Days Of Our Lives, has been a daytime staple for decades. Now, he’s got something special happening in his life! The actor was born on May 7, 1955, which means he’s turning 64 years old today.

Reckell, the second oldest of six children, grew up on a farm in Okemos, Michigan. He took to theater at an early age, building sets and performing in the chorus when he was in junior high school. He studied at the Boston Conservatory, receiving a bachelor of fine arts degree.

Like many young actors, he got his start on the New York soap scene, starring as Eric Hollister on As The World Turns opposite Dana Delany (ex-Hayley).

In 1983, post-Oakdale, Reckell landed his signature role of Bo on DAYS. The sparks with leading lady Kristian Alfonso (Hope) were instantaneous and the couple’s young love story was, arguably, daytime’s most popular.

Reckell and Alfonso not only graced numerous magazine covers, but Christopher Schemering, author of The Soap Opera Encyclopedia, chose the duo to grace the cover of his fact-filled tome.

Reckell came and went from DAYS over the years and during one of his absences from Salem, he played the part of Johnny Rourke on nighttime serial Knots Landing.

Nominated once for Outstanding Lead Actor In A Drama Series at the Daytime Emmys, the actor has been wed to singer Kelly Moneymaker since 1998. They have one child, a daughter, Loden Sloan, who is 11.

An avid cyclist and athlete, Reckell returned to DAYS in 2015 just in time to save Hope’s life; he died shortly thereafter.
