News pre-emptions in select markets on Monday prevented many Days of Our Lives fans from seeing their favorite soap! But they were still entertained — courtesy of Paul Telfer’s Twitter account.
The actor opened his social media feed to questions from DAYS fans. They ran the gamut from inquiries about Xander’s origins to what it’s like working with some of his co-stars. Read on to get the scoop from the Salem villain who turned into one of the show’s top leading men!
Originally, Linsey Godfrey (Sarah) was supposed to join her co-star in the social media Q&A session, but her role as a teacher to her young daughter prevented her from joining in on the fun. Here are some highlights from Telfer’s chat with his followers:
Paul Telfer: Social Media Man
Asked about Xander’s origins, Telfer explained that very little is known about his parents. When he came to town, it was to check in on his old pal Eric (Greg Vaughan) and sell some diamonds! So, maybe someday viewers will meet Xander’s mother and father — unless they’re characters already on the canvas!
Queried about how he met Godfrey, the actor explained it was on the set even though he had already met the actress’ real-life beau Breckin Meyer. “I remember hitting it off immediately,” Telfer recalls, “she’s hilarious and indefatigably upbeat and delightful (but with the mouth of a sailor).”
One fan wanted to know how Telfer manages to memorize all those lines! “I was terrified early on,” he shared, “but eventually your brain finds a way to cram it all in.”
Fans enjoy watching Xander and Ben (Robert Scott Wilson) lock horns including the time Xander taunted Ben over Ciara’s strangulation. Telfer was also asked about what it’s like doing intense scenes so quickly.
“We always shoot fast – but that’s an example where it works in our favor coz we can sustain the energy/momentum,” Telfer notes, adding, “Loved that scene because the calmer Xander was the more it forced Ben to explode.”
When asked what his favorite scenes have been, the actor replied that would be difficult to say, however, he noted that the shows coming up over the next days are at the top! Check out the full tweets below. Days of Our Lives airs weekdays on NBC. Check local listings below.
