Galen Gering is feeling mighty proud these days, as the Days of our Lives actor’s youngest son, 12-year-old Jensen, seems ready for his musical close-up.
The actor took to Instagram Monday to post a video of his son singing a song he wrote, and it sounds like it’s ready for the charts already.
The song, New Kid, is about being the new one in school, and it was especially fitting for the day.
“Hard to believe this guy actually went back to school today!” Gering said. “It’s wildly befitting that this song which is about being the ‘new kid’ in a new school is done.”
The words describe what a lot of school-age children were probably feeling in the past month or so as kids headed back to the classrooms for the first time since last year — many of them in new schools or new environments caused by moves during the pandemic.
“For all those of you out there that have ever experienced those deep and interesting feelings I hope this song speaks to you,” Gering said.
Among those weighing in on Jensen’s music prowess was DAYS’ icon Melissa Reeves, beloved as Jennifer Rose Horton for most of her adult life. She definitely liked what she heard — and she didn’t hesitate to say so!
“Oh my word, he is so so good,” she wrote, adding a number of heart emojis to her post.
This isn’t the first time that the actor has showcased his son’s deftness with the guitar and strong vocals. Back in December, he posted another video of Jensen singing and talked about his son’s involvement in Rock the Holidays, a benefit for the Children’s Hospital of Los Angeles.
Perhaps if Rafe romances Ava, as the storyline seems to be going lately with Hope (Kristian Alfonso) out of the picture and seemingly not coming back to Salem anytime soon, Jensen can come up with a song for the couple and DAYS fans can hear the kid’s amazing singing chops. Days of our Lives (DOOL) airs weekdays on NBC. Check your local listings for airtimes.
