If you thought Jennifer conquered her pill addiction in May, think again. Jennifer Deveraux once again reaches for her pain killers next week on Days of Our Lives, proving that addiction is hard to break.

A Mother’s Grief
Believing her beloved Abigail is dead and she may never win custody of Thomas, Jennifer (Melissa Reeves) drowns her sorrows in a bottle of pills just as she did all winter. Before DAYS left us for two weeks for the Summer Olympics, Jen found a bottle in Thomas’s nursery. However, Jack’s (Matthew Ashford) spirit talked her out of taking any, but Jack won’t always be around.

Caught in the Act
This time, Jen takes it one step further. According to the August 29 issue of Soap Opera Digest, she mixes booze and pills, which is never, ever a good combination. In an odd twist of fate, Belle (Martha Madison) is the one who spies her drinking. Remember, she’s Chad’s lawyer in the custody case and Jennifer fears her.

When she wakes up the next morning in a seedy hotel, she sees Belle and Kayla (Mary Beth Evans) standing over her. Belle swears she won’t tell Chad, but after Julie (Susan Seaforth Hayes) gets her cousin to a meeting, things go even further south. Chad (Billy Flynn) knows Jennifer is there and thinks he may have a better chance at keeping Thomas. However, Belle made Jen a promise and now has a serious conflict of interest.
 
If only Abby would get herself back to Salem already, things might resolve themselves between her mother and husband. However, NuAbby’s arrival might not come soon enough.
