The Days of our Lives recaps for August 23 – August 27, 2021, feature a number of awkward moments, including a mother crashing her daughter’s night out on the town, a declaration of love being met with silence, and a woman learning that her not-so-secret crush is dating her brother.
Tripp Johnson (Lucas Adams) suggested to Allie Horton (Lindsay Arnold) that they introduce Chanel Dupree (Raven Bowens) to Allie’s brother, Johnny Horton (Carson Boatman); Allie isn’t enamored with the idea. Later, after making love, Tripp says, “I love you,” to Allie – and she fails to respond in kind.
EJ DiMera (Dan Feuerriegel) offered to serve as Xander Cook’s (Paul Telfer) legal council, on the proviso that Xander returns the $1million paid to him by Sami Brady DiMera (Alison Sweeney). When Xander balked, EJ agreed to throw in his old job at Titan; Xander acquiesced…Much to Jack Deveraux’s (Matthew Ashford) surprise, daughter Gwen Rizczech (Emily O’Brien) puts forth an argument that he should forgive Xander “his” trespass.
Johnny and Chanel’s dinner date is intruded upon by the latter’s mother; Paulina Price (Jackée Harry) stays only long enough to playfully tease Chanel, and size up Johnny…Ben Weston (Robert Scott Wilson) and his bride, Ciara Brady Weston (Victoria Konefal), return to their efficiency apartment, discussing sharing the same dream about parenting a little boy named Bo and share their first dance as husband and wife.
Abe Carver (James Reynolds) and Paulina decide to give their romantic relationship another go – a prospect that does not sit well with Price family matriarch Olivia (Special Guest Star Marla Gibbs)…Chanel and Johnny head for the DiMera mansion with the intention of making love. However, neither of them possesses protection; so, instead, they talk about the girl that Chanel kissed. Both remain unaware that Allie and Johnny have a familial connection.
Gwen thanked Xander for selflessly taking the rap for her various crimes; the two make love…Tripp and Allie take Kayla Brady Johnson (Mary Beth Evans) and Marlena Evans Black (Deidre Hall) into their respective confidences. Both women offer sage advice over how to best proceed after the awkward moment that was Allie failing to respond to Tripp’s declaration of love.
The air between lovers Ava Vitali (Tamara Braun) and Rafe Hernandez (Galen Gering) was thick with tension – owning to the former’s insecurities about the latter’s intentions where mutual friend Nicole Walker Brady (Arianne Zucker) is concerned. Rafe swore blindly that he has no romantic interest in Nicole; Ava refused to believe him. Gabi Hernandez (Camila Banus) attempted to exploit the rift by sending Nicole – fresh off apologizing to Roman Brady (Josh Taylor) for her treatment of his son – straight to Rafe’s door.
Brady Black (Eric Martsolf) gauged Chloe Lane’s (Nadia Bjorlin) interest in joining him on a business trip to New York – pointing out that they can make time for a visit with Chloe’s family. She’s not entirely sure that it’s wise to go with her ex-husband, but he continued to give the hard-sell…Kate Roberts (Lauren Koslow) warned Philip Kiriakis (Jay Kenneth Johnson) against hiring Jake DiMera (Brandon Barash) at Titan.
Despite Kate’s warning, Philip hires Jake…Chloe agreed to go with Brady to New York. When apprised of the situation, Philip feigns understanding – then privately threatens to murder Brady should anything inappropriate transpire between him and Chloe.
Steve Johnson (Stephen Nichols) surprised Ava by both encouraging her to think before taking drastic action where her and Rafe’s relationship is concerned and offering her an apology for his past demonizing of her…Upon learning that she’s unintentionally causing a rift between Rafe and Ava, Nicole decided to steer clear of Rafe for the time being. Ava catches the pair hugging each other goodbye.
Victor Kiriakis (John Aniston) responds to Justin Kiriakis (Wally Kurth) and Bonnie Lockhart’s (Judi Evans) wedding announcement by instigating a food fight…Justin is disheartened when Sonny is forced to bow out of performing his best man duties; Bonnie suggested that he ask Steve to serve in Sonny’s stead.
Bonnie was confronted by her vengeance-seeking sister-in-law, Calista Lockhart (Cady Huffman), who vowed to out Bonnie as a murderess and thief should she fail to deliver the $1million owed to her…Steve agreed to serve as Justin’s best man.
EJ spoils Johnny’s attempts to woo Tony Dimera (Thaao Penghlis) and Anna Fredricks DiMera (Leann Hunley) into financing his film…Upon crossing paths with Chanel, and learning about the new man in her life, Tripp suggested that a double date is in order. Allie was mortified to see Chanel enter the restaurant on Johnny’s arm.
