The Days of our Lives recaps for October 4 – October 8, 2021, featuring several dinner dates ruined, a coup squashed, a marriage proposal, and so much more.
EJ DiMera’s (Dan Feuerriegel) attempt to permanently trash Duke the Bear – and the associated memories of Rafe Hernandez (Galen Gering) is foiled by Nicole Walker Brady (Arianne Zucker). The former marrieds head out for their dinner date; both are unamused by Rafe and Ava Vitali’s (Tamara Braun) arrival at the same venue.
MarDevil’s (Deidre Hall) attempt on Julie Williams’s (Susan Seaforth Hayes) life is brought to a halt thanks to Doug Williams (Bill Hayes). When Dr. Kayla Johnson (Mary Beth Evans) and John Black (Drake Hogestyn) arrive on the scene, MarDevil blames Doug for Julie’s predicament. She then recommends his committal to Bayview Sanitarium.
While Lani Grant (Sal Stowers) kept Paulina Price (Jackée Harry) suitably occupied, Abe Carver (James Reynolds) put the finishing touches on the grand dinner he’s prepared for him and his lady love. When Chanel Dupree arrived at the apartment, Abe revealed that he plans to ask Paulina to marry him; Chanel happily gives her a blessing….then sets about helping him prepare what she’s sure is Paulina’s favorite dessert – key lime pie. When informed of the menu, Paulina decries the inclusion of said dish.
Sensing Nicole’s distress over being in Rafe’s presence, EJ suggests they decamp for the DiMera mansion; there, he’s furious to learn that Johnny DiMera (Carson Boatman) has not only convinced Chad DiMera (Billy Flynn) to help finance his movie, but that’s he’s also roped Abigail Deveraux DiMera (Marci Miller) into accepting a starring role. Tempers flare, and in the aftermath, Nicole counsels EJ over how to best handle his son and brother moving forward.
Chanel enlists Lani and Eli Grant’s (Lamon Archey) help in crafting Paulina’s preferred confectionery treat – Florida Lime Pie. Abe proposed to Paulina, who happily accepted. Chanel returned with her offering, and the trio indulged.
Maggie Horton Kiriakis (Suzanne Rogers) returned to Salem; she tells Brady Black (Eric Martsolf) and Chloe Lane (Nadia Bjorlin) that Summer has died; Brady and Chloe make clear to Maggie that they are not an item – it’s all wishful thinking on Victor Kiriakis’s (John Aniston) part.

Gwen Rizczech (Emily O’Brien) recorded Judge Smails agreeing to trade sexual favors for Xander Cook’s (Paul Telfer) release. Opposite this, Xander put forth an argument that convinced Justin Kiriakis (Wally Kurth) to present the judge with the recording, and demand both Xander’s release and leniency for Bonnie Lockhart (Judi Evans).
Xander and Gwen are disheartened to learn that they – and Justin have been outplayed by Judge Smails. Per D.A. Melinda Trask’s (Tina Huang) orders, Justin is charged with blackmail and Gwen with solicitation.
Philip gave Gabi 24 hours to decide whether she’ll sign over control of GabiChic to him, or allow Jake to be sent down for murder. Upon locating Jake, Gabi demanded an explanation…Chloe agreed to accompany Brady and Rachel on a fall outing. She waters the sapling that she and Philip planted; Brady vowed to respect the sanctity of Philip and Chloe’s relationship; an innocent hug between the pair is seen by Philip.
Philip accused Chloe of having an affair with Brady; Chloe denied the charge, then stormed off in a huff…Jake swore to Gabi that he was not the man who dealt the killing blows to the man he stands accused of murdering; Jake and Gabi vow to fight back against Philip and Ava.
At Ciara Brady Weston’s (Victoria Konefal) suggestion, Ben Weston (Robert Scott Wilson) makes an appointment to see Marlena and to discuss his hesitancy at bringing a biological child into the world. Marlena gives Ben the wisdom of her counsel – but the Devil intervenes, and demands that Marlena encourage Ben to procreate.
