Days of our Lives Recap: Marlena Sacrifices Herself To Save Doug

The Days of our Lives recap for Tuesday, September 21, 2021, features a terrifying transition – so long Devil Doug, hello again MarDevil. Also, there were further shocks; John Black confides his priestly past to granddaughter Allie, and Chanel Dupree reveals that she’s never seen The Exorcist!

Days of our Lives Recap Highlight

As is her wont, Julie Williams (Susan Seaforth Hayes) demands some immediate answers. Why is her husband unconscious, on the floor of Marlena’s (Deidre Hall) office? What exactly did he say to Marlena prior to his collapse (which really defeats the purpose of a private therapy session, no?)? And what in the world does her husband mean when he says, “He left me, and went into her?”

Opposite all this confusion, John (Drake Hogestyn) blew Allie’s (Lindsay Arnold) mind with back-to-back revelations. Firstly, grandma Marlena was indeed possessed by Lucifer for a spell. Secondly, she was exorcised by him!

Gosh, can you imagine what the young woman would have thought if John had thrown in some other little random tidbits of family lore; like how he worked as an assassin for Stefano DiMera, or how he believed himself to be one of the heirs apparent to the Alamain fortune; or how about the fact Marlena has had two other husbands aside from him and Roman (does anybody remember Alex North and/or Don Craig?).

DAYS Recap: Familial Patter

First things first. Yes, Lani Grant (Sal Stowers) can see herself welcoming Paulina Price into the family as Abe Carver’s (James Reynolds) wife. However, she’s not going to call her mother (HA!), and she wants Paulina’s assurance that she’ll never hurt Abe’s feelings again (double HA!).

Paulina dances around making that promise by tossing out the fact that Doug Williams (Bill Hayes) goosed her; Lani is incredulous.

DOOL Recap: Back on Track

Confession time. Not only does Chanel (Raven Bowens) have no idea who Linda Blair is (which, we can probably all agree is the real sacrilege here), and she’s never watched the actress’s best-known work.

Johnny DiMera (Carson Boatman) offered to help school her – but first, he wants to clear something up…are they, or are they not, back together again? Sure, says Chanel – and Chanel’s lips.
