The Days of Our Lives recap for December 23-27, 2019, features SteVano continuing to make all the wrong choices and Christmas Day shenanigans.
Days of Our Lives Recap Highlights
First a bouquet of exquisite flowers and now a “jet black jewel to match his dark heart.” Stefano is really good at picking out the perfect present. However, he has really bad timing when delivering them.
So anxious was he to slip the smoke-colored pendant into Marlena’s (Deidre Hall) bag, SteVano (Stephen Nichols) actually donned Roman’s (Josh Taylor) Santa costume and attended the University Hospital Christmas Party where he — GASP — handed out presents to children. Talk about dedication to a cause.
But his generous spirit nearly proved his downfall when Kayla (Mary Beth Evans) caught sight of his peepers and immediately flashed back to her beloved Steve playing Patchy Claus.
Kayla chased after her man, called out his name and begged him to speak to her. And she probably would have figured it all out was it not for a quick-thinking Kate (Lauren Koslow) calling in a fake emergency at the front desk. You’re going to have to be far more careful there SteVano. Which reminds us…
The Lies Compounded
The phrase “Out of the frying pan and into the fire” never described someone as good as it does poor Hattie Adams (Deidre Hall). No sooner has she been released from prison and found both employment (the Brady Pub) and new digs (the Black’s penthouse apartment) than she stumbled upon SteVano hiding out in Kate’s bedroom.
Luckily the scheme team is able to convince her that “Patch” is on a super-secret assignment for the ISA and any leaks to his location — or of his presence in Salem — will result in an international incident.
DAYS Musings
After years of being referred to as JJ, did it surprise you to hear Jack (Matthew Ashford) actually use his son’s full name? It’s Jack Patrick by the way.
“Hi Marlena!” Were sure that joke probably gets old for Hattie — she even passive-aggressively says as much — but there’s little doubt it remains a hoot for the guards to shout out the name of town’s most revered psychiatrist every time her doppelganger walks into a room.
Though it was such a pleasure to see so many long-forgotten Horton family members remembered on Christmas Eve during the annual tree trimming ceremony (Bill, Laura, Jessica, Jeremy) there were still a few glaring omissions.
Where in the world were Addie, Marie and Tommy’s ornaments? And surely granddaughter Sandy should have one as well as Maggie’s (Suzanne Rogers) other daughter, Melissa.
So, that was how Eve (Kassie DePaiva) exits the series huh? She shouts “Bah, humbug” really loud, startling the Horton’s gathered around the tree, threatens to get revenge, then simply reveals a plane ticket — that she has inexplicably bought after a year in prison, on Christmas Eve — and exits stage left. We expected more.
Who had the worst Christmas Eve/Day? Xander (Paul Telfer) — who arrived in Chicago to surprise Sarah (Linsey Godfrey) with an extravagant family heirloom only to be summerly dismissed? Or was it Kristen (Stacy Haiduk) who had to learn the hard way that Brady (Eric Martsolf) and Nicole (Arianne Zucker) are quickly becoming an item (again)?
Or, maybe it was Gabi (Camila Banus) whose about to find her boutique’s display window smashed to pieces thanks to that vase thrown by a pissed off Lani (Sal Stowers).
Or quite possibly, it was Ciara (Victoria Konefal) who despite getting to spend quality time with Ben seems to have had her secret rumbled by Xander who now knows she had her manicured paws on his all-important briefcase.
