Days of our Lives has had its share of couples for the ages, and Bo and Hope definitely make the top of the list. They met when she was still in high school and he was just back from the Merchant Marines.
He swooped in on a motorcycle to save her from a sham wedding, she put on a pair of ice skates in order to save the world. They had a son, Shawn-Douglas… and then Hope (Kristian Alfonso) died. She came back and she and Bo (Peter Reckell) remarried. They lost another son, Zach, they had a daughter, Ciara (Victoria Konefal)… and then disappeared.
But he came back. (There was another motorcycle and another wedding involved — only Bo couldn’t stop this one.) But then he died again. So, what’s another return from the great beyond between friends? Should Bo come back yet again? What over 5,000 fans had to say:
Do you even have to ask, 60% of the audience wonders? Hope can have her Aidens (Daniel Cosgrove) and her Teds (Gilles Marini) and even her Rafes (Galen Gering). But Bo will always be her true love, the one she will always return to… just as long as he returns to her.
A smaller 20% of Days of our Lives fans are open to the possibility, but only if the storyline is worth it. Bringing back Bo only to have him ruin your memories of classic Hope and Bo is not anybody’s idea of a good time, so, writers, don’t screw this up!
Nah, we’re good, 17% of you dismiss. We’ve seen Bo and Hope at their best, we’ve seen them at their worst, and we have no interest in seeing either repeated. The 80s are over and it’s time for new young lovers to take center stage in Salem. Days of our Lives (DOOL) airs weekdays on NBC. Check your local listings for airtimes.
