Eric is trading Salem for Africa on Days of our Lives. He’s leaving Nicole (Arianne Zucker), the woman he moved heaven and earth to be with, and Holly, the little girl he thinks of as his own.
He’s leaving his mother just as Marlena (Deidre Hall) and John (Drake Hogysten) deal with his recovery. He’s leaving Sami (Alison Sweeney) before repairing their fractured relationship. He’s giving up on the baby Allie (Lindsay Arnold) wanted Eric (Greg Vaughan) and Nicole to raise.
So he can go to Africa. Because some woman he used to know said he was needed there. Wasn’t he needed there a week ago? A month ago? Wasn’t he still needed there when he first left? Are over 3,000 fans happy with Eric’s decision? Do you think it’s justified? Here’s the vote:
A whopping 86% of the audience is perfectly content with this exit. If there had been a more dramatic exit, like the same mobsters who are after Gabi (Camila Banus) and Rafe (Galen Gering) are after him too (for some reason), or, worse, a presumed death, it would be much harder to bring Eric back, whether played by Vaughan or a recast.
This way, he can come back at any time. Or Nicole can go join him. Or he can visit. We like drama when it’s on-screen. Off-screen, smoother is better.
A smaller 14% of you are underwhelmed. You don’t believe Eric would leave over something so vague, and you don’t believe Nicole wouldn’t go with him. Seriously, what’s keeping her in Salem? She has no family, barely any friends, no job. Why can’t she travel and support her husband?
It’ll be good for Holly. See how the other half lives, maybe learn a new language. This family should stay together. And this isn’t close to a good enough reason to break them up. Days of our Lives (DOOL) airs weekdays on NBC. Check your local listings for airtimes.
