Widowers seeking comfort in the arms of another lady (unattached or otherwise) isn’t exactly a foreign concept to daytime viewers, especially those of Days of our Lives. In fact, one of the many lessons that the soaps teach is that the best way to get over someone is to get under somebody else.
Days of our Lives Polling
But like their real-world counterparts, these fictional bereaved usually observe an acceptable period of mourning. However, that doesn’t seem to be the case for legal eagle Justin Kiriakis (Wally Kurth).
He lost Adrienne (Judi Evans) on May 10, 2020, and within two months he was romantically involved with Kayla (Mary Beth Evans), his former sister-in-law and the doctor who lost his wife on the operating table.
But how do the fans feel about the quickness in which Justin moved on? Here’s what 4,000 had to say:
Smush Name Denied
Over 69% of you said that you weren’t cheering Justin’s lightning-fast change in a lover. It seems that poor Adrienne had barely been laid to rest before her hubby was cozying up to a woman that was supposed to be fighting to keep her own marriage (to Adrienne’s brother no less) afloat.
And let’s face it, the relationship is doomed for failure anyway. Justin has always had a nasty habit of turning to the wrong woman in moments of emotional crisis – we’re looking at you Anjelica Deveraux and all your many incarnations.
And as for Kayla, who has her own nasty habit of hooking up with in-laws – hello there, Shane Donovan — you have no doubt that she’ll drop Justin like a hot potato as soon as the whole sordid mess with SteVano is sorted out – Patch (Stephen Nichols) and Sweetness are endgame, after all.
Justin: Acceptance Is Bliss
Still, there’s 31% of you who are backing the new coupling with everything you’ve got. There’s no official moratorium that says how long Justin should have remained single and all alone. So why shouldn’t he and Kayla come together and try to make a real go of it?
And you argue that if Sonny (Freddie Smith) can accept the relationship and welcome it with open arms then so can you. Days of our Lives (DOOL) airs weekdays on NBC. Check your local listings for airtimes.
