Days of our Lives News Update: Stephen Nichols Tribute To Mary Beth Evans After 34 Years

Stephen Nichols and Mary Beth Evans have been partnering on daytime for decades, first as Patch and Kayla on Days of our Lives, then finding on-screen love a second time as General Hospital’s Katherine and Stefan, until returning to DAYS and their whirlwind romance.

In honor of the anniversary of the day Evans first brought Kayla to Salem and setting in motion one of daytime’s top supercouples of all time, Stephen Nichols took to his Instagram to monument the occasion.

“The myriad moods of my Mary Beth, my sweetness, my acting partner of a lifetime,” Stephen Nichols wrote next to a collage of five photos of Evans surrounding a swoon-worthy kiss between Patch and Kayla during the early days of their romance. “34 years ago, you walked into Salem and my life — and it’s all been so much sweeter as a result. These expressions are just a few of my favorite things about you, @marybeth.evans. I love you and am so grateful for your friendship. Congratulations, baby. Happy anniversary. #Days”

His onscreen sweetness replied to the Instagram post with a caring message of her own. “You are sweet. I love you,” Evans wrote.

Steve and Kayla have had plenty of ups and downs through the years and they’re currently living apart after he spent more than a year with the essence of Stefano inside him via a Dr. Rolf microchip.

Steve recently gave up his love so she could find happiness with Justin after realizing the harm he caused, but don’t be surprised to hear “If Your Heart Comes Out Tonight” at some point in the future as the destined lovebirds reunite.
