While Days of our Lives hasn’t run out of shows like some of its fellow soaps, its stars are still unable to report to the set. Some, like Freddie Smith, who had already announced he was no longer on the show, have continued to provide fresh content on social media for fans to enjoy. Recently, the actor addressed missing Will and Sonny scenes.
Freddie Smith Explains Soap Production
Smith has a podcast with his fiancée Alyssa Tabit and in a recent episode, which he shared a snippet of to his Instagram account, the actor addressed the many questions he’s received about seemingly missing scenes of his character, Sonny, with the love of his life, Will Horton.
“For those of you who were asking too, you know sometimes, because of time… they have their template and they write — people, I believe, read through it and they time it. And they go, oh,” he said, meaning that they log how long the script will take and then make adjustments accordingly. Sometimes scenes have to be cut. Sometimes the show runs short — and that can lead to some great things.
“Some of my coolest scenes that I had have been pink pages, meaning you get an email and they’re like, ‘Hey, this episode is short by six minutes. Here’s an eight-page scene for you and Wally [Kurth; Justin] or you and Chandler [Massey; Will]…’ There was a scene with me and Billy [Flynn; Chad] that I submitted for the Emmys.” So timing changes can be good or bad.
Life In Salem
Meanwhile, Sonny does continue to air on the show and things are about to get very interesting as the truth about how his mother Adrienne (Judi Evans) was really killed last Mother’s Day comes to light. While Sonny has dealt with his loss, the changing culprit keeps ripping off the scab.
Will Sonny look for revenge against Evan (Brock Kelly), a man he once had feelings for, or will Sonny seek a more forgiving route? Stay tuned to find out. Days of our Lives (DOOL) airs weekdays on NBC. Check your local listings for airtimes.
