Days of our Lives News: Reports Of Melissa Reeves Firing Are FALSE

Late last night a report surfaced on Yahoo! News that Melissa Reeves had been fired from Days of our Lives — a report that looked to have been picked up from partner site, TV Line.

The report stated the actress had been let go due to controversial social media activity last month regarding the Black Lives Matter movement. However, something looked wrong about it immediately. It seemed to have two lead paragraphs for two different scenarios — one with Reeves making a statement about the activity and one with her being fired from the soap.

It is common for publications to get stories ready just in case they come to fruition — but only publish them if they do. Apparently, accidents can happen and it did in this case. TV Line quickly released a statement and a story on Tuesday morning.

“Due to technical error, a story was briefly published on @TVLine — and has since surfaced on our partner feeds — that claims #DaysOfOurLives has fired Melissa Reeves. The story is false. Melissa Reeves has NOT been fired. We apologize for the error.”

Days of our Lives History

DOOL made its debut on November 8, 1965 and is the second longest-running daytime soap opera currently airing in American history. The show shot to the No. 1 spot in the ratings in the early 1970s and has been a fan favorite thanks to its emphasis on romance, adventure, and family.
