Days of our Lives fans have been sad with all the departures lately but they will be relieved to hear a number of Salem residents will be staying in town for a while, as the show has promoted five actors to contract status.
Days of our Lives Actor Status
According to the Jason47 DAYS website, Jay Kenneth Johnson (Philip), Lucas Adams (Tripp), Emily O’Brien (Gwen), Lindsay Arnold (Allie), and Isabel Durant (Claire) were all upped to contract status, per Friday’s credits.
That should mean some interesting romantic entanglements in the months ahead as Gwen tries to insert herself between Abigail and Chad, and Claire starts to get closer to Ben, setting up an interesting triangle between she, Ben, and Tripp.
Additionally, the site announced that Galen Gering (Rafe), Camila Banus (Gabi), Freddie Smith (Sonny), Chandler Massey (Will), and Wally Kurth (Justin) were removed from the contract cast, keeping the DAYS regular count steady at 26 contract actors.
Not to worry about all of them though. Kurth will continue on the show on recurring status, so expect the lawyer to get closer to Bonnie ahead, as the chemistry between Kurth and Judi Evans has always been off the charts.
Gering and Banus have both announced that they have re-signed with the show and will be back to contract status in the months ahead, so the Hernandez siblings will both probably have new love interests and storylines upon their return.
Sadly, that won’t be the case for Smith and Massey, who exited the canvas last week as Sonny and Will headed out of town hand-in-hand, with DAYS offering no plans to bring them back on contract but they will probably be seen occasionally as Salem events warrant it.
The cast has undergone more than the usual comings and goings merry-go-round of late, with long-time cast members Kristian Alfonso (Hope), Greg Vaughan (Eric), and Stacy Haiduk (Kristin) all announcing their departure from the show (though Kristen continues to pop back in).
Just like sands through the hourglass, the show continues to go on with new and exciting characters, and this being DAYS, don’t count out returns from any of those leaving. Days of our Lives (DOOL) airs weekdays on NBC. Check your local listings for airtimes.
