Days of Our Lives Gets Back to Work On Monday

Now that NBC has announced that Days of Our Lives has been renewed for a 56th season, the show is wasting no time in getting back to work. The actors will have a few more days off before returning to the Burbank Studios in order to start making magic once more.

According to Soap Opera Digest, the show is set to resume production on Monday, February 3. There had been reports that the show was going to start taping new episodes starting January 27, but it never happened.

It’s likely that Corday Productions, Sony (which distributes the show internationally), and NBC were ironing out some final details, hence the one-week delay.

DAYS has been out of production since late November, but the show isn’t going to have to worry about playing catch-up. As fans know, the program tapes approximately 7 to 8 months in advance so they’re not about to run out of episodes anytime soon.

Sources tell Soap Hub that the soap has been in the process of negotiating with cast members to return to the show as all their contracts expired in November. Losing a little more than two months is still going to be keep DAYS far ahead between what it’s taping and what is airing.

A drawback to this model is that by the time producers and writers receive feedback from fans on how a story is being perceived, there’s really no opportunity to alter anything since the show is so far ahead with taping.

Currently, DAYS has episodes in the can that take the show until the end of August this year. Starting next week, episodes will be produced that take the show through its newest renewal deal/episodes through the end of August 2021.
