Days of Our Lives star Galen Gering truly cares about the environment and the animals living in it and that’s why he’s got something to ask of you — as you throw parties to celebrate special occasions.
The actor, who plays Rafe on the NBC soap, feels so strongly about it that he took to social media to advocate for those most at risk. He recently shared a picture of himself (see below) in front of balloons — with a warning message about what they can do to harm a particular creature.
“Because let’s face it-people love balloons! I suppose the same can’t be said for turtles tho, so if you’re gonna party dispose of your party favors properly.”
The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service concurs, asking people to be careful about not releasing balloons into the air. “Birds, turtles and other animals commonly mistake balloons for food, which can harm or even kill them.”
They also point out that animals could get caught, strangled, or wrapped up in the string that’s tied around the balloons. So, if you’re going to party with balloons, just make sure you dispose of them in a safe and secure manner.
Days of our Lives (DOOL) airs weekdays on NBC. Check your local listings for airtimes.
