Asher Morrissette, who played Chad and Abigail’s son Thomas DiMera on Days of our Lives from 2018-2019, is suffering from a mysterious illness that first struck him this summer.

Asher Morrissette Needs Your Help

Over the past two and a half months, the 6-year-old actor has been in and out of hospitals and doctors can’t figure out what’s wrong.

On his Instagram account, news of a GoFundMe page for the young actor and his family has been set up by a family friend for those wanting to help by contributing.

“Asher has been sick w/ a persistent 102 fever of unknown origin since 7/8,” the post revealed. “Doctor’s have been unable to determine the cause.”

On that page, more details of his illness were revealed. After a few weeks of monitoring and testing by his primary physician, the young actor was referred to Vanderbilt Children’s Hospital in Nashville, where he underwent numerous tests (including for COVID) and blood panels.

Still, his doctors can’t come up with a course of action that has helped. He is next scheduled for an MRI of his brain to check for problems with his hypothalamus (which regulates body temperature).

One theory is that Morrissette is sick due to environmental factors and doctors have recommended he and his family move back to California immediately. The thought is that this move would remove any allergens or environmental triggers that could be bothering him where they are at in Tennessee.

To that end, the family is hoping to raise $10,000 in order to move out of their home quickly and secure a new lease in SoCal, where they believe he will be better. If a move doesn’t work, an MRI would most likely be scheduled at Children’s Hospital of Los Angeles, one of the top children’s hospitals in regards to fevers of unknown origin (FUO).

To date, the fund has raised approximately $4,500 of its $10,000 goal. Soap Hub wishes Morrissette the best and hopes he’s feeling better soon. Days of our Lives (DOOL) airs weekdays on NBC. Check your local listings for airtimes.
