While Days of our Lives has been home to some incredible villains over the years like Stefano DiMera (and several of his offspring), there’s really no one like the Devil himself. While Lucifer’s favorite host has been Marlena Evans Black in the past, he hasn’t stopped there during his most recent trip to Salem — and it’s been quite the wild ride.

Days of our Lives: Dance With the Devil

It’s been about 25 years since his last visit to Salem and it wasn’t until he took over Doug Williams (Bill Hayes), that the audience was tipped off that the Devil had returned to Salem. ‘Doug’ was knocking people out, pinching Paulina Price’s (Jackée Harry) behind, and saying all kinds of outrageous things — and he even locked his beloved Julie Williams (Susan Seaforth Hayes) in a freezer!

But that was just a warm-up and now, after wreaking havoc in Marlena’s body — with a side road trip in Susan Banks’s (Stacy Haiduk) so he could turn into Kristen DiMera (Eileen Davidson) to tempt forever hero John Black (Drake Hogestyn) — the Devil has taken up residence in Johnny DiMera (Carson Boatman).

One would certainly think that as the son of EJ DiMera (Dan Feuerriegel) and original hellion Sami Brady DiMera (Alison Sweeney) — who just happens to be the daughter of original host Marlena, that Johnny would be the perfect heir to play host and one would be absolutely correct!

Johnny already had a touch of the theatrical in him, looking to direct a movie and thinking he had the golden touch so it probably wasn’t too hard for the Devil to take up residence. While we only have his word that Johnny was trying to fight him off, it didn’t take long and now Johnny is self-destructing all over the place, ending his marriage of about two minutes to poor Chanel Dupree DiMera (Raven Bowens) in the most spectacularly humiliating way possible.

Is it heartbreaking? Yes. Is it entertaining? You bet. Is it almost over? Not even close — and we don’t want it to be. Because there’s one thing you can say about the Devil (okay, there’s tons you can say but we won’t), he’s never boring and neither is Days of our Lives while he’s around.
