Bonnie Lockhart – a brash gold digger with heart and conscience just big enough to excuse some of her more wicked doings on Days of our Lives.
Who Is Bonnie Lockhart?
Bonnie Maureen is the mother of Patrick, Mimi, and Conner and is a lifelong resident of Salem. She toiled as a housekeeper under the auspice of her violent husband, David Lockhart, and grew envious of her wealthy clients whom she alternately admired and detested.
When Mimi accidentally murdered David, Bonnie and her sons covered up the crime and deposited the corpse in the basement of a church. Afterward, Bonnie schemed to better her lot in life.
Mrs. Horton
She thought she had finally found her ticket into high society in widower Mickey Horton. She managed to finagle not only a position as proprietress of Chez Rouge – the restaurant once owned by Mickey’s late wife, Maggie – but a marriage proposal to boot.
After transforming the eatery into a country-western bar dubbed Alice’s (in honor of her future mother-in-law whom Bonnie was desperate to impress), Bonnie drug her intended down the aisle. But just as she was deemed Mrs. Mickey Horton, Maggie reappeared, alive, and well!
And while Bonnie put up a valiant effort to keep Mickey for herself, she also had to contend with the problems of her daughter, Mimi. Bonnie had encouraged Mimi to pursue Rex when she believed him to be a wealthy DiMera. But when his true identity as a Brady was outed, she tried her best to split the pair apart.
By then, Mimi was pregnant with Rex’s baby and unsure if she wanted to keep it or terminate the pregnancy. Bonnie advocated for the latter only to learn that a post-procedure infection had rendered Mimi unable to have more children (or so she thought).
To compound Bonnie’s troubles, Mickey insisted on a divorce, though he and Maggie did allow Bonnie to maintain ownership of Alice’s. Bonnie was content, but only for a short time.
In 2007, David’s corpse was uncovered and Mimi recalled her long-forgotten role in his death. In an act of true selflessness, Bonnie confessed to committing the murder and began to serve what was rightfully her daughter’s prison sentence.
Triple Trouble
A decade later, Bonnie found herself roped into a labyrinthine scheme orchestrated by Anjelica Deveraux that saw her attempt to use her uncanny likeness to Adrienne Kiriakis to upend the woman’s personal life.
Assisted by Marlena Evans’ own lookalike Hattie Adams, Bonnie initiated phase one of the plan: sever ties with Adrienne’s lover, Lucas Horton, and reunite with her ex-husband Justin Kiriakis.
But while phase two was supposed to end with “Adrienne” breaking Justin’s heart – so he would return to Anjelica – Bonnie couldn’t help but return to a distraught Lucas. The discovery of their assignation caused Anjelica to suffer a fatal heart attack.
Rather than reveal the plan now that the mastermind was dead, Bonnie decided to double down and attempt to seduce Victor. How better to get back at his current wife, Maggie Horton?
When the ruse was exposed, and Adrienne sprung from Bonnie’s prison cell, her mirror image went on the lam. The next year, Bonnie reemerged, with a baby in tow, whom she claimed was sired by Lucas. She tried to leverage the babe for her freedom but it eventually came out that the little girl was actually Mimi’s.
Bonnie was reincarcerated and upon her release, she penned a tell-all memoir, Love Made Me Loony. But is that truly the end of Bonnie’s story? Days of our Lives airs weekdays on NBC. Check your local listings for airtimes.
