Days of our Lives’ Bryan Dattilo Gets Bumped Up to Contract Status

Folks will be seeing more of fan-favorite Bryan Dattilo on Days of our Lives in the future. The actor, who’s played the legacy character since 1993, is moving up to contract status.

Dattilo joined the show during the first tenure of head writer James E. Reilly, who brought the characters Kate Roberts (Lauren Koslow) and her son Lucas to Salem. In time, viewers learned that Lucas’s pop was none other than Bill Horton (Ed Mallory; Chris Stone).

Deadline reports that starting today, Monday, December 14, Bryan Dattilo, a Days of our Lives veteran, has been promoted to a series regular. Watch for Lucas’s story with ex-wife Sami (Alison Sweeney), who is returning to DAYS on a more permanent basis, and their daughter Allie (Lindsay Arnold) to expand.

Highlights of Lucas’s tenure in Salem include the quadrangle he was in with Sami, Carrie (Christie Clark), and Austin (Patrick Muldoon; Austin Peck). Early on in their relationship, Lucas and Sami schemed to keep Carrie and Austin apart as Lucas cared for Carrie and Sami was obsessed with Austin. A shocking soap twist occurred when viewers learned that Lucas — not Austin — was the father of Will (Chandler Massey).

Sami later gave birth to twins Ali and Johnny. It was revealed that Lucas was Ali’s dad while Johnny’s pop was E.J. (James Scott). Lucas’s other love interests have included former wives Chloe Lane (Nadia Bjorlin), Carrie, and Nicole Walker (Arianne Zucker).

Lucas went to jail for shooting E.J. in the back but was later paroled. He was eventually sent back to jail, but he negotiated a deal with authorities to help bring down a drug cartel in exchange for a reduced sentence. Lucas was devastated when Ben (Robert Scott Wilson), the necktie killer, murdered Will, but later, as only DAYS can, the character was revealed to be alive. Days of our Lives airs weekdays on NBC.
