Another year of Days of Our Lives (DOOL) is coming to a close, which means it’s time for the cast to weigh in on the storylines they felt were tops.
For some actors, love and romance were key. For others, powerful drama and comedic turns stood out as their most memorable moments. Here’s what DAYS actors had to say about their favorite storylines of 2017.
Eric Martsolf (Brady)
“The catastrophic breakup between Brady and Nicole and the blackmailing. Brady made those sacrifices for Nicole [Arianne Zucker] and whisked her away to Canada. He was instrumental in helping her find out that she had a daughter.
“They built all this love up to have it come crashing down in the name of, my first love will always triumph. It was pretty heart-wrenching.”
Mary Beth Evans (Kayla)
“Even though it was very painful, I loved the whole arc of Joey (James Lastovic) going to prison. I was so stressed just entering the studio to shoot those scenes. Kayla was like a mother hen… She was going to protect her child no matter what. It was a good visceral emotional story. That’s my favorite thing to play — heartfelt family drama.”
Stephen Nichols (Steve)
“Joey confessing to Ava’s murder. Kayla, being his mother, was totally against it. She had blinders on in terms of what the child really needed. Steve knew exactly what Joey needed to do.
“He could relate to the fact that if you do these things and you don’t pay the price, they will haunt you for the rest of your life. It created a wonderful conflict between Kayla and Steve.”
Camila Banus (Gabi)
“Everything to do with the Hernandez family. Having a full complete family – a mom, a dad, Dario and Rafe. I loved having them all sit down to dinner in the Hernandez kitchen. It existed. It was a story on Days of Our Lives. I’m so proud to be a Latina and to represent my culture on such an iconic show.”
Lucas Adams (Tripp)
“I liked the whole hospital storyline with Kayla, where Tripp held her hostage for a little bit. That was a lot of fun. It was something that we got to invest everything in and had all these emotions going on. Mary Beth was amazing in that.”
Olivia Rose Keegan (Claire)
“The sex tape storyline was pretty fun… when that all blew up and everyone found out about it. It was a real struggle for Claire to get herself together after that. Her emotions were all over the place, and I got to play a lot of different things.”
